Yes, you can fly with a detached retina. However, after retinal detachment surgery, until your doctor establishes that the gas bubble is absorbed,, you will be advised not to fly in an airplane or high altitude. Traveling or flying high in a gas-filled can build the pressure within the eye and may cause pain and decreased vision. However, flying with silicone oil fill poses no problems
